MANHATTAN July 27, 2015 — Anahid Syourapian Piano Studio has been selected for the 2015 Best of Manhattan Award in the Music Lessons & Instruction category by the Manhattan Award Program.

Each year, the Manhattan Award Program identifies companies that we believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and our community. Invitation for Matthew ‘s performance in Carnegie Hall next Saturday

It is my great pleasure to announce that Matthew has been chosen to perform at the Final Round of the Forte International Piano Competition!
This is a great accomplishment, since he had to win intense rounds of completion in the past two months to reach this level.
I would like to invite you to attend this event to support Matthew.

Matthew will perform in Carnegie Hall

12/14/2014 Update: Today is an extremely exciting day for the studio!
Matthew has passed the vigorous requirements of the Forte International Piano Competition and selected to perform at the Final Round which will take place in the wonderful and world renowned CARNEGIE HALL!!
I am exceptionally delighted by the fantastic progress Matthew has made for the past 3 years. Only 9 years old and already performing in Carnegie?I couldn’t be more proud of his and all of my student’s success !

Forte International Piano Competition

I am extremely happy to announce that my student Matthew passed his Preliminary Round at the Forte International Piano Competition in NYC on Saturday and qualified for the Semi-Final Round, which took place Sunday!
At the Semi-Final Round his score results were even better and we are eagerly awaiting to learn if he qualified for the Final Round which will take place in the renowned Carnegie Hall!

My student just won the 2nd place in the Prestigious Rondo Piano Competition!

I would like to share the wonderful news that my eight year old student have received 2nd place in the Rondo Young Artist Piano Competition, which took place in the beginning of the month here in NY. As a winner he has been invited to perform at the beautiful Liederkrantz Foundation Hall in April. It is so great to see the results of his talent and hard work!

        We are a small team of teachers led by Mrs. Anahid Syourapian.                  For over 17 years piano teachers Evgeni, Anahid Syourapian, Tamara, Jefrey, Francesca and Brian have been passing on their love for music and teaching piano lessons to students of all ages in NYC.

Lessons are customized based on each individual students’ needs and goals. We offer mainly Classical Piano lessons, ear training & theory.

We do teach Jazz, Pop and other styles in music, but our concentration is in Classical music.

Lessons take place in our Midtown west studio just 2 blocks away from Carnegie Hall, or we can come to your home in Manhattan.

Start Them Early – Start Them Right

Everyone knows it is better to start learning an instrument at a young age, but do you know why?
Because, the formative young brain is receptive to new skills, the lessons become imprinted into the brain, making progress quicker and long lasting. Recently it was shown, in several medical studies, that music lessons actually cause the left side of the brain to grow to a larger capacity, which then boosts a child’s verbal skills by 20%.
The ideal age to start a young child on his musical journey to playing an instrument is around 5 years old. Younger children can join rhythm/dance play groups but I have found that, 4 y.o for girls and 5 y.o. for boys, works out best.
It is the adult’s responsibility to give this gift to a youngster. Honestly, a young child cannot see far enough into the future to know what a talent and skill it is to be able to make music for others. They don’t want to take lessons; they would rather play video games. A parent must make the sacrifice of a modest amount of money and the time to bring the child to his lessons consistently each week. The reward is a skill that will last a lifetime, giving pleasure, gaining social admiration and self confidence! A truly great gift in so many ways!

What to expect from your piano teacher?

The piano teacher’s profession requires to inspire students to play with evenness of tone or regularity of delivery, note accuracy and rhythmic character, creativity and individuality, leading them to achieve successful performances that suit and reflect their particular skills, strengths and enthusiasms. This is a collaborative partnership between the teacher and each of the students, as they learn how best to portray the composer’s musical ideas in their own personal way.
